Understanding The Effects Of School Funding

Synopsis:

  • This article specifically focuses on California, but it does a great job of looking at the effects of school funding. Which is based on a multitude of factors.

  • Reflecting socioeconomic conditions and preferences of the residents

  • However it is hard to determine whether or not student achievement is solely based on the level of school funding. As there can be a plethora of outside influences.

  • This has caused researchers to have studied state level school finance reforms. These reforms were most often court ordered mandates directing states to correct funding inequities resulting from differences in local property tax bases across districts.
